The Flexy supports different Siemens series such as the S7 Family (S7-200 / 300 / 400 / 1200 & 1500) and the S5 Family (s5-90 / 100 / 115…).
The Flexy can also be combined and is compatible with VIPA devices.
The Flexy IO server S73&400 has been designed to communicate with Siemens PLC (such as S7-300, 400, 1200 or 1500) but also VIPA PLC using either the MPI or the Ethernet (ISOTCP) port.
The Flexy IO server S7200 is dedicated to communicating directly with Siemens PLC of family S7-200.
A Flexy with MPI/Profibus interface is required to connect directly to the MPI/Profibus interface of the PLC.
To perform a remote maintenance on an Operator Panel, the Ethernet interface of the OP or the eWON VCOM solution must be used.
More information about the S73&400 or the S7200 IO servers can be found in the Reference Guide: IO Servers available in the Resources section, down below.
This type of PLC is an Ethernet only which is fully compatible with the Flexy.
Data polling will be done whatever the eWON type (no need for an MPI port) through ISOTCP protocol from the S73&400 IO server. You will be able to poll Input (I), Output (Q), Internal Memory (M) and data blocks (DB). Timer and counter are not available because they are addressed as an instance data block in the PLC.
As the remote maintenance is done through Ethernet, the Flexy will be used as a standard Ethernet router.
A Flexy linked to an S7-300 / 400 Siemens PLC will be using the “S73&400” IO server.
Using the S7200 IO server, the Flexy will connect directly to the PLC’s PPI interface.
On a PPI Network, an eWON with a serial interface acts as a monoMaster, it must be the only device acting as master on the network. However, a Flexy with an MPI port is able to communicate on a PPI multiMaster bus.
The IO server S5-AS511 communicates via the front programming port using AS511 protocol.
Pay attention that this AS511 protocol is specific for each Siemens device.
