A lot of industrial devices (weighs, barcode readers, …) provide a simple RS232/485 communication port with an ASCII or text-type protocol.

Thanks to the eWON Embedded Basic language (see Basic programming), the users can easily program their own ASCII protocol in Basic and hence provide Ethernet connectivity for such kind of devices.
